    Christmas Cards

Decorated with Happiness Stampin' Up! simple card

    0 · Nov 20, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Today's card features a traditional Christmas ornament hung from the tree but with a modern twist. I love how the Decorated with Happiness stamp set by Stampin' Up! features two step stamping with fun, yet traditional, images. Create your own Christmas scenes quickly and easily. Pair the Decorated with Happiness stamp set with the coordinating Decorated Pine dies for even more ornament possibilities.

See a completely different card with this stamp set HERE and another HERE.

    Create it yourself!

This layout has been a favourite lately, you will notice several cards with the same measurement. See another Christmas card HERE featuring the Regal Reindeer stamp set. I created a birthday card for a plant loving friend HERE using the same layout.

Scroll to see the full tutorial with measurements.

This card features the Painted Christmas 12x12 Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up! The colours are beautiful and the patterns are amazing! I used the Pear Pizzazz green for the card base along with some Real Red for the ornaments and Garden Green for the tree branches. Here are the three main supplies used for the Christmas card.

    Decorated with Happiness Stamp set
    Ruffled Red Ribbon
    Painted Christmas

You could swap out the design of the patterned paper to create multiple variations of this card. Similarly, choose a different card base that matches the Painted Christmas 12x12 designer series paper for to create lots of different cards.

Check back soon for more cards using a blue snowflake theme and the same card design!

    Regal Reindeer Christmas Card

    0 · Nov 19, 2022 · Leave a Comment

The Regal Reindeer stamp set from Stampin' Up! has all the components you need for a Scandinavian or North Pole style Christmas card. An adorable little girl paired with a regal reindeer outfitted in bells. The coordinating dies are featured in a Christmas scene card I featured last week. See the tutorial and card HERE.

Today's card features traditional Real Red as the card base. The images are good to colour with if you are a beginner as you can add just touches of colour. I used Stampin' Blends in a Real Red, Crumb Cake and Old Olive to create the Regal Reindeer Christmas card.

Christmas card featuring a little girl feeding a reindeer

This card design is my favourite right now. I'm hoping, you too, will see how versatile it is and design your own cards. You can see more ideas of how I used the design in a birthday card HERE. I love how using an existing design makes creating cards so much easier! No need to work out measurements, most of the work has already been done.

    Make it yourself!

Today's card is suitable if you are a beginner stamper. There are not a lot of products required. You could even skip using the embossing folder and use patterned paper instead as seen in this card. Using a plain piece of Real Red cardstock would look great as well and make the card even easier to use.

    Regal Reindeer Stamp Set
    Merry Melody embossing folder
    Simply Elegant gold trim

I do have two tips to help create this card.

    • Place both the little girl and the reindeer stamp on 1 large block. Carefully line up the bottom and put them close together. This allows you to stamp them together and then you don't need to worry about lining up the stamped images. It also makes it easier to let the reindeer go off the edge of the Basic White cardstock while still making the overall image appear centered.
    • Use the light Pool Party Stampin' Blend marker to add shadow beneath the girl and reindeer. Add some "snow" as well so that the images are grounded rather than appearing to float.

    Storybook Gnomes Cute Christmas Card

    0 · Nov 8, 2022 · Leave a Comment

The Storybook Gnomes 12 x12 designer series paper from Stampin' Up! is the cutest Christmas paper I have seen in a long time. I will admit to not really be a big Gnome fan, but I couldn't resist this paper. Today's featured card requires some fussy cutting of the images, but I think you will agree it is worth it! See my Double Z Fold card HERE for a great Christmas card using the Storybook Gnomes paper with no fuzzy cutting.

Christmas card featuring a deer and fox. Greeting reads warm wishes

    Make it yourself!

Even the the complete Gnome collection isn't necessary for this card, I want to show you how cute it is below. The dies cut out the Gnomes on the paper, so the versatility is amazing. I also think this would make a great baby card since the foxes and deer are just so cute.

Did you notice the die cuts also include mushrooms and die cuts to create Gnomes without the stamp set? How amazing is that! Below is what the Gnome looks like cut out. The Kindest Gnomes stamp set and dies are also available as a bundle for a 10% savings. I will include a bonus card recipe at the bottom of this post for you to use. Celebrate with Tags Mitten Christmas Card

    0 · Nov 5, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Who doesn't love cozy mittens in the winter? The mittens in the Celebrate with Tags stamp set by Stampin' Up! has mittens that look exactly like you would picture some handknit mitts from Gramma. I also like that the Celebration Tags dies coordinate and cut out the mittens. I'm not a big fan of fuzzy cutting.

Check out another card featuring the Celebrate with Tags stamp set HERE. It is a bright and cheerful card in non-traditional colours.

Greeting card featuring Stampin' Up! Celebrate with Tags stamp set

Cherry Cobbler and Evening Evergreen are the best for Christmas colours. The Lights Aglow 6x6 Designer Series Paper has pretty patterns. This card actually features two of the plainest patterns but they work to highlight the mittens and give a cozy feeling to the card. This is an easy card to case using your favourite colours and patterned paper. It is quick enough to use as a design for making a lot of cards.

If you wanted to further simplify this card, you could use Cherry Cobbler cardstock and Evening Evergreen cardstock with an embossing folder. I do think the patterned paper gives a pretty look.

No full tutorial today but here are some measurements to help you out:

    • Card Base: Basic White cardstock 8½" x 5½" scored at 4¼"
    • Layer 1: Cherry Cobbler pattern - 4" x 5¼"
    • Layer 2: Evening Evergreen pattern - 3"x 3"
    • Basic White circle embossed with the Wintry 3D Embossing folder ~3"
    • Layer circle onto scalloped circle slightly larger than 3"

Stamp the mittens in Cherry Cobbler and then use your Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine to die cut them out. Pop them up with Stampin' Dimensionals and attach Baker's twine to the back. Complete the card with a couple of pearls.

    Regal Reindeer Silhouette Christmas Card

    1 · Oct 17, 2022 · Leave a Comment

I resisted purchasing the Regal Reindeer stamp set and bundle from Stampin' Up! for as long as I could. I had the opportunity to buy it at half price and couldn't resist any longer! I am so glad I bought it! The Regal Reindeer bundle can be used for intricate cards and is perfectly suited for step cards but I was trying to keep it simple with today's card. As you can see, I have trouble creating simple cards.

Scroll down for a full tutorial.

    Regal Reindeer Christmas card

This Christmas greeting card is easier to create than it looks thanks to the amazing Reindeer dies included in the bundle from Stampin' Up! One trick to making better looking cards is to repeat the colours used in your card. I kept trying to use black twine or the black gingham ribbon to pick up the black in the silhouettes and I wasn't happy with it. The two classic black matte dots add just a touch more of black and pull the colours together.

    Make it yourself:

Creating the winter scene with the reindeer and fox was quite enjoyable! Colouring the trees with the Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends was easy to do and I really didn't do much shading. I would love to see your examples of this card with different colours. Try Old Olive trees with Early Espresso silhouettes or try a different green and post your card in the comments. What is your favourite green?

    Christmas Double Z Fold Card

    1 · Oct 16, 2022 · 2 Comments

Double Z fold cards are easier to make than they look and the possibililities are endless. Today's design features the Storybook Gnome designer series paper by Stampin' Up! The cute gnome scenes on the paper make a cute card front to the double Z fold Christmas card. Make sure you scroll down for a a full tutorial, with card measurements for this adorable Christmas Gnome card. See another example of a double z fold card HERE.

Storybook Gnome Christmas Card by Stampin' Up

True confession time, I don't like the Gnome set by Stampin' Up! but I do love the paper, so I bought just that. The Storybook Gnomes 12x12 designer series paper has the cutest little deer and foxes featured! The patterns and colours are wonderful. The patterned paper features Pool Party which is my current favourite colour. I even have a kettle that matches!

The saying "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is from a new, limited edition stamp set called Framed & Festive. It is available to demonstrators now and will be released to everyone in November. IF you can't wait, consider joining my team and see all the perks there is to being a demonstrator. Check it out HERE.

I used the All Bundled Up stamp set for the background snowflakes. It is another adorable set!

    Make it Yourself!

The Double Z fold card can be put together easier and faster than you think. After making the first, they come together quite quickly. When looking down on the cards it looks like this:

    Tips:

    • Stamp the background snowflakes before folding the card base
    • Tie the ribbon either vertically or horizontally on the front. Choose whichever placement best draws attention to the gnome scene.
    • Be careful when applying adhesive - only the far-right and far-left of the small Z are glued down to the larger Z card base.

Keep scolling for the printable tutorial!

    Happy Stamping,

    Amy

    Decorated with Happiness Christmas Card

    0 · Oct 8, 2022 · Leave a Comment

I love Christmas ornaments so Stampin' Up!'s Decorated with Happiness stamp set was top on my wish list. The Christmas stamp set features coordinating die cuts and both give a whimsical, more modern look to Christmas cards. I also love traditional Christmas colours. Evening Evergreen and Cherry Cobbler combine to give festive look.

I've created another Christmas card featuring the same Decorated with Happiness bundle. See it HERE. Both cards feature the same embossing folder, same Holiday bundle but due to the colours, give a completely different look.

    Make it yourself!

Scroll down for a complete tutorial you can print or save.

Evening Evergreen and Cherry Cobbler combine perfectly for Christmas cards. These two colours are featured in the Stampin' Up! Lights Aglow 6x6 Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. It is so popular it keeps selling out - if that is the case, I recommend embossing a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock with the same embossing folder as the white piece. The Whimsical Woodland 3D folder is a fun embossing folder - cute too!

    Peace to You Christmas Card

    0 · Sep 23, 2022 · Leave a Comment

The bright colours used for my Peace to You Christmas card are a welcome change to traditional Christmas colours. The Peace to You stamp set by Stampin' Up! contains a beautiful nativity scene that is easy to stamp and cut out for your Christmas cards this year. I love how the traditional nativity scene has been given a more modern look.

    Make it yourself!

I used two more of Stampin' Up!'s "In Color"s for today's card. Tahitian Tide pairs so well with Starry Sky. They both have bright hues that compliment each other very well. Similar to this Christmas card made with Tahitian Tide, I used Stampin' Up! blending brushes to add colour and to soften the stark contrast between the blue and white layer.

The Peace to You stamp set by Stampin' Up! features two bold images that lend a modern feel to religious Christmas cards. My favourite is the nativity scene shown in todays card, but the other is also classic with a traditional church in the woods scene. I also used the Labels Aglow dies to add the dot detail on the top and bottom of the white layer. Some sparkly Tahitian Tide Metallic Woven Ribbon adds some additional interest this cheerful Christmas card.

    Stampin' Up! Peace to You
    Labels Aglow dies
    Metallic Woven Ribbon

To create the sentiment - I used the die in the Labels Aglow die set and cut it out twice. The second pass through the Cut and Emboss machine, I moved the die forward and adjusted it so that the edges lined up and then passed it through again just enough to cut the side and make it shorter. You could simplify this step and use a plain rectangle.

    • Tahitian Tide Ink Pad 159210
    • Tahitian Tide ⅛” Metallic Woven Ribbon 159197
    • Rhinestone Basic Jewels 144220

    Instructions

Cut paper to the following sizes:

    • Starry Sky: 8 ½ ” x 5 ½ ” - scored at 4 ¼ ” and folded in half
    • Tahitian Tide: 5 ¼ ” x 4”
    • Basic White: 5” x 3 ¾ ”; approx. 3” x 4” for image + scrap for sentiment

    Stamping and Assembly:

    • Adhere the Tahitian Tide layer to the front of the card base and set aside.
    • Use the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and the long rectangle die to die cut the dot detail on the top and bottom of the large white layer as shown.
    • Use a Blending Brush to pick up Tahitian Tide ink from the inkpad. Begin brushing it on from the short edge with the dot pattern, taking care to begin off of the edge of the cardstock. Continue to add ink and swirl it over the bottom and top edges of the card until the edges are darker than the center, and you’re pleased with the results. Adhere to the card base.
    • Ink the image well with Starry Sky ink and stamp with onto 3 x 4 white piece. Fussy cut with paper snips.
    • Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap of basic white cardstock. Die cut the sentiment with the appropriate die from the Labels Aglow dies and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Ma-chine. If you would like a shorter piece, as shown, you will need to cut the piece out as follows: First die cut the saying with the die close to one edge. Move the die over to the other edge and wiggle it a little bit for the dotted edges to align. You will feel when it “grips” a spot. When cutting it the 2nd time, run it through the Stampin’ Cut and Em-boss machine part way and then reverse.
    • Cut a 4” piece of the Tahitian Tide Ribbon. Adhere to the back of the die cut, and snip the ribbon ends on an angle. Adhere to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Finish the card with a few Rhinestones..

    Celebrate with Tags Christmas card

    0 · Sep 16, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Stampin' Up's celebrate with tags set is easy to overlook in the 2022 July - January mini catalogue. It doesn't really jump out at you but it definitely deserves a second look. I must admit I bought it mainly for mittens! The mittens in the Celebrate with Tags stamp set are perfect for Christmas cards but there are other images too making this a very versatile set. I love the stitching on the valentines and the coordinating die cuts are fantastic! Of course, the bundle is the best deal.

Christmas card featuring a pair mittens

    Make it yourself!

I used the new In Colors, Tahitian Tide and Orchid Oasis together to create this bright and cheery Christmas card. The blending brushes add detail to the embossed background and the Wonderful Snowflakes add a bit of shimmer to highlight the mittens. What do you think of the the colour combo?

If you want to see a card in more traditional colours using the Celebrate with Tags stamp set click HERE.

The Celebrate with Tags bundle includes hearts, balloons and the adorable mittens. Of course the two tags are wonderful as well. The largest tag is designed to hold a gift card and I really like how it only takes one pass through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine.

The Wintry 3D embossing folder fits in the Mini Cut and Emboss machine creating a slightly narrower layer. To add even more interest, I brushed the edges with the Tahitian Tide ink. The blending brushes are so soft - they really are fantastic!

    0 · Aug 18, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Do you love sparkly gold ornaments on your Christmas tree? I know I do! The Decorated with Happiness stamp set and bundle by Stampin' Up! contains a beautiful Christmas tree bough along with three different ornaments to die cut. This Christmas stamp set has a whimsical feel with splashes of colour that you can stamp to give a watercolour look to your Christmas cards.

My favourite greens right now are Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. These two colours are featured in the Stampin' Up! Lights Aglow 6x6 Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. The Lights Aglow patterned paper also features gold accents and Cherry Cobbler. It is simply gorgeous and I may need to order an extra pack!

The gold accents pair beautifully with the Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen colours chosen. Whenever you use metallics, try to repeat them a few times on the card. It creates a more cohesive design and looks more professional. Here I've used the gold foil to cut out the ornament then added the gold elegant trim to tie it to the tree bough. Notice how I actually looped the gold trim around the branch? I then secured the bow with a mini glue dot.

Gold Accents were also added to the sentiment and a hint of gold ribbon peaks out from underneath as well. Keep scrolling for the full instructions, including measurements, below.

    0 · Dec 18, 2021 · Leave a Comment

I love quick and easy Christmas cards. The Peaceful Deer bundle by Stampin' Up! creates a fun card featuring a gold deer prancing on the front. I used the Heartwarming Hugs designer series paper for the three panels. I always overthink which patterns to choose and need to remind myself that it doesn't matter that much. I could also just make several cards with different patterns, that way I wouldn't need to choose just one design!

Christmas Trees Dies Quick and Easy Card

    0 · Nov 30, 2021 · Leave a Comment

Create this simple card featuring the Christmas Trees dies from Stampin' Up! quickly and easily. The Whimsical Tree bundle is so cute, but this card uses only the little tree dies instead of the stamp set. I think they are my favourite part of the entire bundle.

Christmas Tree Quick and Easy Card

If you need to make a lot of cards this Christmas, this Christmas trees die card can be created using almost any patterned paper. I liked how the gold pairs with the Evening Evergreen paper in the Tidings of Christmas 6x6 designer series paper pack. Originally I was going to use two different patterns but simplified the design after trying many combinations. I'm happy with the result.

    • Christmas Trees dies
    • Brushed Metallic 12x12 cardstock
    • Stitched so Sweetly dies
    • Tidings of Christmas 6x6
    • Fine Art Ribbon
    • Brushed Metallic Adhesive dots

Using one piece of patterned paper as the background does make this card fast to assemble. I used the largest, scalloped rectangle in the Stitched So Sweetly dies to stamp the sentiment on. I cut it in half and plan on using it for a red Christmas card tomorrow. What colour is your favourite for Christmas cards? Leave a comment letting me know.

    Supplies

    • Christmas Trees dies
    • Stitched so Sweetly dies
    • Tidings of Christmas 6x6 designer series paper
    • Basic White 8 ½ x 11 cardstock
    • Fine Art ribbon
    • Brushed Metallic adhesive dots
    • Evening Evergreen ink pad
    • Your choice of Stamp set for the sentiment

    Instructions

Cut paper to the following sizes:

    • Designer Series Paper: 4“ x 5¼"
    • Basic White: 8 ½” x 5 ½"; scored at 4 ¼ for card base
    • Basic White: 3 ¾ x 2 ¾ “

    Die Cut:

    • Use the small trees dies and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to cut out 3 trees out of the gold cardstock.
    • Cut out 1 scalloped rectangle from Basic White using the largest rectangle die and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine.  Cut in half lengthwise.

    Stamping:

    • Stamp your choice of holiday sentiment on the bottom left corner of the scalloped rectangle.

    Assembly:

    • Fold the Basic White cardstock in half along the score line to create the card base.
    • Adhere the patterned paper to the front of the card base (the basic white) leaving a small, even border as shown.
    • Adhere ribbon near the top edge of the scalloped rectangle. I like to use an inch of adhesive to the back on both sides, and wrap the ribbon around the front and adhere on the back.
    • Adhere the 3 gold trees as shown.
    • Use Stampin’ dimensionals to adhere the scalloped rectangle sentiment.
    • Add a brushed metallic adhesive dot to finish the card.

    Wonderful Snowflake Christmas Card

    0 · Nov 13, 2021 · Leave a Comment

Who doesn't love snowflakes? Christmas and snowflakes go so well together that despite the non-traditional colour scheme, this card is still Christmassy. (not sure if that is a word!) This card works well is you want a design that is quick and easy. Create one or twenty in a short amount of time. Make sure you scroll down for the full instructions to print or download.

    Make it yourself:

I used Stampin' Up!'s Layering Circles to die cut the circle on the Whimsy and Wonder designer series paper. The Night of Navy cardstock then shows through. Alternatively, you could punch out a circle. You could also add a Night of Navy circle on top of the patterned paper instead - it will give a slightly different look and you will need to decide what you like best.

The Wonderful Snowflakes come in a package of 24 - so enough to make lots of cards.

    • Blushing Bride Frayed Ribbon

Using different designs in the patterned paper would look wonderful as well. Try it yourself and be sure to post a picture in the comments.

Sparkle of the Season Christmas Wreath card

    45 · Sep 16, 2021 · 1 Comment

Who doesn't like wreaths? Christmas wreaths add a welcoming touch to front doors across the country. This card features a holly wreath from the Sparkle of the Season bundle by Stampin' Up! A simple Z fold adds interest to the design and the "Tidings of Christmas" patterned paper adds beautiful colours to an otherwise simple card. See some fall inspired cards featuring Sparkle of the Season wreaths HERE and HERE

Z fold cards are easy to make once you know the measurements to use. I created a bright and fun Rainbow of Happiness card featuring a Z fold as well. See it HERE. Want to try a Double Z Fold card? See the full tutorial HERE

Scroll to the bottom to use my easy to print card recipe with complete measurements and instructions to make yourself.

    Make it yourself:

I started with the Tidings of Christmas 6x6 designer series paper by Stampin' Up! The patterns are so pretty! Choose your favourite for the background. I then pulled the 2 greens from the paper to create the wreath. Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent are two colours I would not normally pair together but I like the final look. I found using only one wreath looked too skimpy but layering two wreaths created a full looking wreath easily.

I also used the Jolly Felt to add some festive holly berries to the Christmas wreath card. I love that the Sparkle of the season dies allows you to cut out 6 berries at one time.

If you are in Canada and would like to make this yourself you can purchase the supplies needed HERE in my store. I appreciate your support of my business.

    • Stamp Blocks
    • Paper Trimmer
    • Pair of scissors
    • Your choice of adhesive.

    Supplies

    • Sparkle of the Season bundle
    • Tidings of Christmas 6x6 designer series paper
    • Basic White 8 ½ x 11 cardstock
    • Evening Evergreen 8 ½ x 11 cardstock
    • Soft Succulent 8 ½ x 11 cardstock
    • Cherry Cobbler 8 ½ x 11 cardstock and inkpad
    • Jolly Felt

    Instructions

Cut paper to the following sizes:

    • Designer Series Paper: 3 ¾ ” x 2 ¼“; 3 ¾” x 2 ¾ “
    • Evening Evergreen: 4¼ “ x 11” scored at 5½ “ and 2¾ “ folded as shown below; 4x4 for wreath
    • Basic White: 4 x 5 ¼“; 3½ x 2½”; 2½ x 4”; plus a strip ½” x 3½“
    • Cherry Cobbler: 3 ¾ x 2 ¾ “
    • Soft Succulent: 4x4 for wreath

    Die Cut:

    • Use the holly wreath die and the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to cut out 2 wreaths. 1 out of Evening Evergreen and 1 out of Soft Succulent
    • Cut out 4 or 5 cherry cobbler felt holly berries with the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine.

    Stamping:

    • Stamp “Merry Christmas” with Cherry Cobbler ink onto the Basic White strip.  Cut the end on an angle.

    Assembly:

    • Lay the Evening Evergreen card base horizontally with the 2 scores to the left hand side.
    • Adhere the largest piece of Basic White cardstock to the right side of the Evening Evergreen card front – the side with no scoring.
    • Adhere the widest piece of patterned paper to the far right of the basic white, leaving a small, even border as shown.
    • Layer the shortest Basic White rectangle onto the Cherry Cobbler.  You will know you have the correct piece if it aligns with a small border evenly around the perimeter.
    • Layer the patterned paper onto the other Basic White rectangle.  Similarly, there should an even border around the perimeter.
    • Adhere the Basic White and patterned paper layer onto the far left of the Evening Evergreen card front.  The score line/fold should be next to this and it should have an even border.
    • Using adhesive on only the left hand side of the Cherry Cobbler piece, adhere to the very front of the card when it is folded as shown.
    • Layer both wreaths on top of each other and adhere to the left side of the front.
    • Use Stampin’ dimensionals to adhere the Merry Christmas banner
    • Add the felt holly berries with Stampin’ glue dots.

    Freezin' Friends are so cute!

    0 · Dec 13, 2020 · Leave a Comment

These cute animals are having so much fun in the snow. The Freezin' Fun stamp set from Stampin' Up! features an adorable bunny, penguin, raccoon and seal. I made a set of cards with the same design but different cute animal. The first in the series showcases the penguin in a warm scarf and hat.

The cards each contain a winter scene and although I will be using them as Christmas cards - they could be used for "Just a note" or even a winter birthday card. I practiced my alcohol marker blending and am quite happy with how the scarf and hat turned out. The colouring is faster than it looks as the images are small. I also added wink of stella for some sparkle.

The background use the Snowflake Splendor paper designer series paper. I included some of the Pool Party colour in the scarf to pull the look of the card together.
