Comfort and Hope - send a paper hug today

    0 · Oct 19, 2020 · Leave a Comment

Times are tough and we all need some comfort and hope. Those of us that are healthy with loving families still may get overwhelmed with everything happening in the world right now. It's even harder for those without strong support networks to keep going every day. For those suffering from health issues or lose of loved ones each day may be a struggle.

Comfort and Hope by Stampin' Up!

This card may be used as a sympathy card but I created it to send to friends and family members that just need a bit of help with life right now. I love how this stamp set, Comfort and Hope, by Stampin' Up! includes the message "sending a paper hug" It is a perfect saying for everyone that needs a little pick me up.

    Create this card yourself!

The watercolour background is easier to create than it looks. Start with watercolour paper and mist lightly with water. Use a watercolour painter to add Blushing Bride ink from the reinker or stamp pad in a random pattern as shown. Allow the ink to flow and resist the urge to try to be perfect. While the image is still wet, stamp the herringbone image in Blushing Bride ink onto the background. The pattern will bleed a bit giving a nice texture.

After the watercolour background dries, stamp the circle image in Crumbcake followed by the foliage in Early Espresso ink. Continue to layer with the Good Taste elements. Have fun playing with the arrangement until you are happy with it. Download the instructions in the project sheet below.

    Sympathy Trifold Card

    0 · Mar 29, 2018 ·

No one wants to need sympathy cards but alas, there are times when it is therapeutic to make a special sympathy card.  The "Charming Cafe" bundle by Stampin' Up! creates a very pretty and unique trifold card that is perfect for a sad occasion.  I paired the flowers and framelits from the Charming Cafe set with the beautiful and very appropriate saying from the "Flourishing Phrases" stamp set.   The framelits make cutting out the gorgeous flower window quick and effortless.  Stampin' Up! Blends alcohol markers add a touch of colour.  Stampin' Up! water based markers could be used as well since the flowers are too small to take advantage of the blending with the alcohol markers.

The "With Sympathy" is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and fits perfectly into the "Pretty Label" punch.   This set also includes phrases for the inside of cards so is a very versatile set to own.

The black floral designer series paper is from the Whole Lot of Lovely Pack and coordinates with the powder pink in the Fresh Florals pack.  The colours are soft and appropriate for a sympathy card.

The inside showcases the floral paper and I love the trifold effect as it leaves room in the inside for your message.  I know that even if people don't read the card immediately they often go back weeks, months or even years later to read the comforting words

The card is finished off with the solid black twine that pulls the colours together and is simple but effective.  I like how this sympathy card shows the care that went into making it without being too fussy.
